MAES | Modern American English School

Speaking English is a vital skill today as we face an increasingly globalized future. The process of learning English instills a new awareness in students and enables those students to fulfill personal as well as national aspirations. M.A.E.S. offers English programs to the Guatemalan people from age 2 through to late adulthood. 

School History

The Modern American English School was founded in 1978 by Ms. Patricia Ruiz Asturias as a response to the need in Antigua, Guatemala for a solid English education that would help students attain employment, a solid college education, foreign scholarships, etc.


Every person has a fundamental right to a good education.  As an institution Modern American English School strives to not just teach English but also to cultivate well-rounded people.
