jo ellen maesI grew up in a small town with all of my relatives living within a short distance.  At 16 we moved to Cincinnati and I have lived here ever since.  I have 4 younger brothers and sisters and 1 child.  My daughter has recently married and I now have a 14 year old granddaughter, a 13 year old grandson and a 6 year old grandson.

In 2002 I retired from teaching with over 30 years teaching experience both in the schools and independently.  My students ranged in age from 8 through adult.  I have a master’s degree in special education.  Since retiring 8years ago I have had varied teaching experiences.  In 2008 I tutored native Spanish and Japanese speakers at a private school.  In 2009 I taught English for a semester at Liuzhou Teachers’ College, located in Liuzhou, China.  Summer of 2010 I taught English at a cross-cultural camp sponsored by Cece Global here in Cincinnati.
I enjoy cooking, reading, attending movies and plays.  I sew and am learning to knit and crochet.  I also enjoy traveling and spent 2 weeks in Guatemala February 2010, one week taking private Spanish lessons.
I continue to substitute teach here in Cincinnati.
